The purpose of this study is to evaluate the use of different closing wheels and their effects on emergence and yield.

Even though this 15-in. study was planted into fit, no-till conditions, we still found a yield advantage with all three of the spiked closing wheels we evaluated when compared to the control of two solid rubbers. Similar to our findings when testing closing wheels on corn and soybeans, we believe that the spiked closing wheels helped with the wheat's emergence and root growth by properly closing the seed trench from the bottom up and ensuring optimal seed-to-soil contact.
