2018 Southern Illinois Wheat Fungicide Study

Applying fungicides to wheat prior to flowering has not proven to be profitable in our PFR testing. Each year has been hit-or-miss depending on the disease pressure we faced. With that in mind, this year we tested some newer fungicide products at the flag leaf growth stage (Feekes 8) to see if they would help increase yields and return on investment. Of the three products tested, none of them provided yield gains over the untreated control. It’s important to note that there was little to no disease pressure at the time of application, and it continued that way due to the dry conditions we experienced in April and May.
