The purpose of this study is to evaluate the use of various micronutrient products, applied at the R1 growth stage, to determine their yield and profitability.

2018 Southern Illinois Soybean Micronutrient Study - Foliar

We pulled several tissue samples at the Southern Illinois PFR site to try and learn the “why” behind foliar nutrition products and their success. One unique observation from these tissue samples is that one week after application, differences were seen in the nutrient concentrations within the tissue. The highest increases in nutrient levels occurred with applications of MicroBlitz™, a product that contains multiple nutrients. When sugar was added to the treatment, the levels increased in the same nutrients compared to the control, but we gained another 0.8 Bu./A. from the addition of sugar. Adding the right nutrients can supply the plant with what it needs and provide enough of a yield increase to see a positive return on investment.
