The purpose of this study is to utilize Precision Planting’s FurrowJet® attachments to apply starter fertilizers and various fungicide products that are not compatible with a starter fertilizer, in an attempt to increase yield and profitability.

2-YEAR FUNGICIDE PLACEMENT RETURN ON INVESTMENT

In-furrow fungicide applications target soilborne fungal diseases such as fusarium, pythium and rhizoctonia. Over the past two years, Xanthion® has provided the highest yield gain and return on investment, averaging $14.18/A. The benefit of using Xa nthion over Proline® is that it contains a biological fungicide that continues to grow with the roots even after the chemical fungicide component dissipates, providing continued protection to the plants root system. Xanthion has shown impressive results, even when the hybrids tested were already treated with Beck’s Escalate® 

 which contains five fungicides that target a broad range of soilborne fungi.
