The purpose of this study is to evaluate calcium and sugar placement with Precision Planting’s FurrowJet attachments to determine impact on yield and profitability.

2017 Ohio Soybean In-Furrow Placement Study - FurrowJet™

Canopy coverage measurements collected at the V2 growth stage indicated that the control had slightly greater canopy coverage than the other treatments. Late-season observations gave us a clue as to why we may have noticed this. Early in the growing season, the control focused more energy on vegetative growth. The treatments where dextrose and calcium were applied at planting developed more robust root systems than that of the control. These root systems appear to have allowed for greater nutrient uptake and a slight yield increase. Improving the placement of sugar and calcium with the FurrowJet™ wings further increased the yield advantage and resulted in a positive return on investment.
