With a cool, wet spring, our environmental conditions were prone to N loss. In the case of the N efficient hybrid, XL® 4721AMX™*brand, losing some N did not appear to make a huge difference, indicating that this plot had an ample supply of N. However, in the case of the higher N user BECK 4617SXbrand, protecting N led to a clear yield advantage.
