The purpose of this study is to compare starter products, rates, and placements in the Martin-Till® Dual UMO 2x2x2 to a traditional 2x2 system and the impact on yield and profitability.

2017 Indiana Corn Starter Fertilizer Systems Study - 2x2x2

There is a lot to be learned from this study. First, placement matters! We observed a 7 Bu./A. yield advantage with the 2x2x2 placement vs. 2x2 at the 30-unit rate. Also, in our PFR studies, we have observed that Start Right continues to add yield when added to UAN in a 2x2 system. When Start Right was applied through the 2x2x2 system, it was not as effective. Again, placement matters! This suggests that the concentration of Start Right is important and leads us to question whether or not we should double the Start Right rate when using a 2x2x2 system.
