CLOSING WHEEL STUDY

2021 Southern Illinois Wheat CLOSING WHEEL STUDY

  • Southern IL

The purpose of this study is to evaluatethe use of different closing wheels and their effects on emergence and yield.

2021 RESULTS

3-YEAR CLOSING WHEEL YIELD AVERAGE

OBSERVATION

As a result of a dry fall, the closing wheels in this study were tested in more of an ideal environment than usual. As we’ve seen over the years, more ideal seedbed conditions do not typically lead to drastic differences in final yields. As a result, little to no difference was seen in 2021. Over three years of testing, after-market wheels continue to show an advantage compared to standard rubber wheels!
