Internal Precision Farming Specialist

Purpose and Scope

This position is responsible for the front line of defense for internal customer support as it pertains to Beck’s Precision Farming services & FARMserver. This person will work directly with production, research, and PFR employees to understand and solve their individual challenges. This person will quickly learn and understand how FARMserver works in order clearly explain the software to users. This position with also be tasked with testing new cutting-edge features prior to release to public.

  • Provide front line support for our FARMserver applications, working with field operations data management, mobile application support, and understanding complex agronomic models.
  • Drive early success for our internal customers and ensure a positive and productive start to a long relationship through specific proactive outbound efforts: account setup, data management, customer onboarding.
  • Work on complex inbound support requests – including answering questions, troubleshooting complex issues, and finding/reporting bugs – using phone and email.
  • Collaborate and perform Precision Farming data processes involving data collection, data management, data dissemination, and data storage.
  • Actively participate in the testing procedures and methods to ensure quality product releases and ease of user interface for FARMserver. 
  • Acquire customer needs and requirements by asking questions and listening to Field Advisors and report all findings to the Precision Farming Lead.
  • Promote and educate internal customers on the future direction of Precision Ag Industry and FARMserver.
  • Create and maintain educational videos.
  • Know and understand Beck’s production, research, and PFR practices.
  • Monitor and evaluate the competitor activities in the marketplace and actively share market knowledge with Precision Farming Lead through verbal and/or written communication.
  • Pursue continual personal development and learning.
  • Perform administrative functions as required to maintain efficient and effective sales.
  • Perform other related duties as may be required by the Precision Farming Lead.

Job Requirements

1. Education and training:

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Agronomy, Ag Economics, Precision Ag, Sales or another related field
  • 2 years agronomic experience
  • Must possess and maintain valid driver’s license and insurable driving record as determined by Beck’s automobile insurance policy.

2. Technical knowledge:

  • Proficiency with relevant computer and software skills
  • Great communication skills both verbal and written
  • Ability to negotiate and resolve business problems
  • Ability to identify and resolve agronomic challenges

4. Physical demands:

  • Ability to pass DOT physical examination and obtain Medical Examiner’s Certificate may be required.
