Purpose and Scope

This position is responsible for performing duties involved in preparing and serving food and beverages as well as performing related cleaning duties. This position follows a standard procedure and work is performed under close supervision. This position will work approximately 5 hours per day.


  • Prepare fresh vegetables for the salad bar.
  • Prepare fruits and snacks for the grab-n-go cooler and restock at the end of each day.
  • Deep fry some sandwich items such as fish, tenderloins, etc. and side items such as french fries, onion rings, etc.
  • Replenish items on the serving line, salad bar and the condiment table during lunch.
  • Assist in the breakdown and cleaning of the serving line and salad bar after lunch.
  • Clean and disinfect tables and chairs in the dining room after lunch.
  • Assist in receiving and stocking food items.
  • Perform cleaning and mopping activities throughout the kitchen and dining area.
  • Serve as supervisor if Food Service Manager is absent.
  • Perform other related duties as may be required by the Food Service Manager.

Job Requirements

1. Education and training:

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Experience or education sufficient to enable an individual to understand and follow verbal or written instructions.


2. Technical knowledge:

  • Working knowledge of kitchen equipment.
  • Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing.


3. Experience:

  • A minimum of one (1) year experience in food service preparation is preferred.
