It’s been a crazy couple of weeks with traveling and trying to dodge the winter storms that we’re getting hit with here in the Midwest. So for today’s blog post, I thought it would be nice to share a lighthearted story with you to give you a little smile on this cold winter day.

The snow and brutally cold temperatures we have endured over the past couple weeks makes doing anything outdoors uncomfortable. However, for those that want to fight the cold weather and still have some fun outdoors, now is a great time of year. One of the best things that winter brings to hunters is hungry coyotes. The conditions lately are perfect to call-in and shoot these wild canines.

As the sun rose on opening day of the 2013 Missouri firearms deer season, I found myself in familiar surroundings. This was the fourth season that my good buddies Roger Lewis, Mike Hamski and I have shared this great farm in northeast Missouri. As good as this spot has been to us over the years, this weekend was a bit slower to develop. With temperatures near 70 degrees and winds just about that strong, it was pretty slow in comparison to past opening weekends.

When you work at a company for nearly 20 years, you gain lots of stories. From humorous to heartfelt, many of the stories I’ve gained are actually learning experiences. My name is Doug Clouser and I’m the product lead at Beck’s Hybrids. I’ve been a part of the research team since 1996.
I’ll admit this first blog has me a little nervous. I can speak and write for days on product information, product placement, or even technologies. This whole idea of entertaining or educating in a blog format is a bit outside my comfort level.
