Many growers are interested in new and unique methods to increase wheat yields, while others may be growing wheat for the first time in many years. Beck's has compiled multi-year, multi-location research and agronomy information that we believe can help farmers achieve higher yields and improve their efficiency.
We have condensed this information into what we feel are key success strategies from our Practical Farm Research Program (PFR)® and agronomy insights to help you be more successful with your wheat crop.

When appropriately timed, fungicide applications in soybeans provide one of the most consistent returns of all the things tested through Beck’s Practical Farm Research (PFR)®, even in the absence of significant foliar disease pressure. Beck’s 4-year, multi-location research suggests that the optimal timing is the R3 reproductive stage, which is identified by having a 3/16 in. pod at one of the uppermost four nodes.

It’s hard to believe that we’re already talking about late-season applications. It seems like no matter how much we prepare, it’s mid-season before we even get the planters empty. As we transition from the planting and early-season mindset, I’d like to challenge you to try one new thing on your farming operation this year.

Another season of Practical Farm Research (PFR)® data is in the books. Naturally, the first section I check out is the PFR Proven™ section. This section is very important when it comes to making decisions on your operation. For a product or practice to earn the PFR Proven title, it must be tested at multiple locations for a minimum of three years. In each of the three years, it must provide a positive yield gain each and every year and average a positive ROI over the combined years of research.

The New Year is here! This is a great time to evaluate your current cropping program and decide the areas you can seek to improve in 2021. Planters are a key priority for us in Practical Farm Research (PFR)®. The planter pass sets the stage for the rest of the growing season; its success is vital for raising higher yields. PFR has tested several planter attachments and aftermarket options.

If there is one thing that the 2019 growing season showed us, it’s that you can’t outguess the weather. For many, 2019 ended up being a year we wanted to put behind us. With Practical Farm Research (PFR)® looking at many products and practices across several locations, we have developed several key strategies that will help optimize yield potential and success. As discussed at many of our 2020 PFR Insight Meetings, we have determined five strategies that we believe will give farmers the highest likelihood to succeed and named them PFR Proven™ Success Strategies.
Happy New Year from the PFR team!
As we start selecting new products and practices to test in 2020, we wanted to highlight some of the studies that stood out in 2019 and the lessons that we learned from them.
