Agronomy Update: Soybean Emergence & ILeVO Effects

Published on Monday, May 21, 2018

Planters have continued to roll across fields in the Midwest over the last few weeks and soybeans have finally started to emerge. Now is a great time to evaluate your stands and see if there are any issues that need to be addressed.

Remember, it's just as important to look at what hasn't come up out of the ground as what has.

Some issues that could cause a concern in soybean fields include:

  • Broken necks
  • Too shallow of planting depths
  • Seedling blights
  • Herbicide damage

In fields with ILeVO® treated soybeans you may notice a browning around the tips of the cotyledons, which is known as the Halo Effect. This will not have a negative yield effect on your crop.

Check out this video to learn more about what to look for when evaluating soybean emergence and stand, as well as the effects of ILeVO on emerging soybeans.
