What is happening in the field with late April planted soybeans? As soybeans emerge from the ground, they encounter pre-emergent herbicide barrier that are persistent on the soil surface. Young soybeans can sometimes struggle to metabolize the herbicide barrier, in less-than-ideal growing conditions Mother Nature throws at them. Luke Schulte, Beck’s Hybrids Field Sales Agronomist, shows how to evaluate which soybeans will survive layering abiotic and biotic stressors. Maintaining optimal weed control and minimal crop response is key for early season soybean success.
