Planting Date Study

2017 Southern Illinois Soybean Planting Date Study

  • Southern IL

To determine the optimum planting date window by planting multiple dates throughout the growing season.

OBSERVATION

Planting early can be risky when considering potential frost events, Sudden Death Syndrome, and seedling blights. However, with modern advancements in soybean varieties and seed treatments, we have been able to overcome these challenges across the Midwest. When planting after mid-May, we have seen a significant reduction in soybean yields.
