Fungicide Study

2017 Central Illinois Corn Fungicide Study - Carrier Rate

  • Central IL

The purpose of this study is to evaluate different fungicide water carrier rates and their impact on yield and profitability.

OBSERVATION

The fungicides available for both corn and soybean production are either translaminar or locally systemic. Fungicides with translaminar action have the ability to move from one side of the leaf to the other. Locally systemic fungicides can move within the plant, but will not move far from the site of penetration. Therefore, fungicide coverage is key to the success and profitability of the application. This study compares some of the more common carrier rates for applications utilizing a high clearance machine. As suspected, our 2017 yield results directly correlate with carrier volume.
