Closing Wheel Study

2017 Central Illinois Corn Closing Wheel Study - Placement

  • Central IL

The purpose of this study is to evaluate Schaffert’s 4 Link Closer and its effect on emergence, yield and profitability.

OBSERVATION

This closing wheel placement study was planted into a no-till environment. After the heavy, late April rains we experienced, planting conditions were less than ideal. However, emergence counts and Net Effective Plant Stands (NEPS) confirm how forgiving our soils are, as we saw negligible yield differences between treatments.
