Closing Wheel Study

2017 Kentucky Corn Closing Wheel Study - Placement

  • Kentucky

The purpose of this study is to evaluate Schaffert’s 4 Link Closer and its effect on emergence, yield and profitability.

OBSERVATION

The Schaffert 4 Link Closer with walking axle closing wheel system provides significantly more travel, allowing for better, more consistent row closure on uneven ground. Conditions were next to ideal when we planted this study and, as a result, emergence was uniform. There was very little distinguishable difference observed during early growth and development. Ultimately, a slight yield advantage was observed with the Schaffert 4 Link Closer with walking axle.
