The purpose of this study is to evaluate various soybean starter fertilizers, applied in-furrow, and their effects on yield and profitability.

OBSERVATION

The results this year from adding a starter on soybeans echoes what we typically see in the field. Often times, a slight increase in yield is observed but economically, it’s a loss. One consistent trend we have seen is with Microcarb ZMB. Our three-year, multi-location data has placed it at the top of the list in our soybean starter trials. Because it contains the micros (Z/M/B) and fulvic acid (a humic), the soil microbes had an increased food source and were able to supply the soybean plants with added nutrition.
