CropTalk: Chicken Soup For the Farmer's Soul

September 2022

Author: Maggie Holt

On August 1, Beck’s officially launched our “Just Believe” campaign with messaging driven from Bible verse Mark 5:36, “Don’t be afraid. Just believe.” We had one single objective with this campaign; to encourage all farmers to “remember, He created you for this.” And while some of our dealers and employees had been privy to a sneak peek, our marketing team eagerly anticipated the video release and the feedback such a bold campaign would garner. Author: Maggie Holt

Scott Berget grew up in Wiota, WI, where he farmed on Berget family farms and silver creek family farms, where he was a co-owner. To Scott, family was everything, and he had amazing relationships with his Mom, Judy, his dad Mike, and his siblings, but his favorite people on this earth were his nieces and nephews. Scott cherished the time he spent with them and made sure they each knew how much he loved them.

CropTalk: If You Teach a Man to Fish

Author: Maggie Holt

If you give a man a fish, you feed him for a day. If you teach a man to fish, you feed him for a lifetime.

I used the same proverb to introduce my December 2020 CropTalk feature article If You Give a Man a Fish. In it, I detailed the selfless work of Kenton and Autumn Hofer from Bridgewater, South Dakota, and their tireless efforts with Growing Hope Globally. Growing Hope is an agricultural-based organization dedicated to providing training on sustainable agriculture, nutrition, hygiene and sanitation, access to water, seeds, and land to people in need around the world.

CropTalk: Research by the Numbers

April 2021

Author: Maggie Holt

6. That’s the number of years I had worked here at Beck’s before taking a true, in-depth tour of the biotech building here in Atlanta, IN. But earlier this year, a few members of our research team opened their doors and allowed me to follow them around for two hours as they explained the amazing work their teams do, day in and day out. We are lucky to have 101 beyond talented full-time employees (with 47 job titles among them) across 7 locations who dedicate their time and energy to bringing farmers highperforming, regional products quickly and efficiently.
