It was 1964 in Atlanta, Indiana, and single cross hybrid corn was the talk of the town. Sonny Beck, CEO of Beck’s, had just graduated from Purdue University with a mission of delivering this new, exciting data to the farmer. That summer, thirty farmers and friends gathered together for the first-ever Beck’s Field Show. IF YOU BUILD AN EXPERIENCE, THEY WILL COME.
Scott Beck, president of Beck’s, attended his first Field Show in 1965 as a fourmonth- old. When Scott returned back to the family business in 1987, he joined as employee number 12. IF YOU BUILD A LEGACY, THEY WILL COME.
In 1975, longtime Beck’s customer and dealer Bryan Kirkpatrick, attended his first Beck’s Field Show where he met Sonny and the late Lee Rulon, Beck’s sales manager, for the first time. From his first encounter, he knew Beck’s was a company that was different. “It’s always been about the people and helping farmers succeed,” Bryan says. Since that day in 1975, Bryan still hasn’t missed a Field Show and was the number one Beck’s dealer in Indiana for years. IF YOU BUILD A FRIENDSHIP, THEY WILL COME.
As Beck’s continued to grow, so did the show. From one day to two days, and now three days, Becknology Days has continued to grow to accommodate those who come by car, bus, and even plane. IF YOU BUILD IT BIGGER, THEY WILL COME.
Longtime Beck’s employees remember their first days at Becknology Days as interns. Toby Ripberger, senior event strategist, once oversaw the refreshments table but now oversees the entire three-day event. Cassie Hiday, research administrator, says, “Becknology™ Days may grow larger each year, but each year feels even more family-oriented and community driven. We all come together for one purpose: to help farmers succeed.”
IF YOU BUILD A HOME, A FAMILY WILL COME.
For nearly sixty years, Beck’s has built an experience on the things that matter the most. On August 25 – 27, Beck’s will welcome back 12,000 farmers, friends, and family to where it all started – at home in Atlanta, Indiana. Becknology Days has evolved into an experience unlike any other.
