PFR Report: Need for Speed: Closing Wheel & SpeedTube High Speed Planting Studies Highlights

Published on Monday, July 06, 2020

Has high-speed planting caught your attention? Interested in shortening your planting time when ideal planting windows have shrunk? Beck’s Hybrid’s Practical Farm Research (PFR) department is putting high-speed planting to the test in both corn and soybean fields! Yetter Poly Twister and Schaffert 4 Link Closer with Walking Axle closing wheels and Precision Planting’s FurrowForce two-stage closing system are being tested in 7.5 and 10 MPH planting speeds. In another high-speed study, a standard seed tube is up against Precision Planting’s SpeedTube at 5 MPH, 7.5 MPH, and 10 MPH planter passes.

Join Jared Chester, OH PFR Location Lead, as he reviews early-season visual observations in these high-speed planting corn and soybean studies.
