Corn Fungicide Timing Considerations

Agronomy Update

Published on Thursday, July 29, 2021

Field Agronomist, Camille Lambert, was out scouting corn, and wanted to share some observations. It's important to scout for foliar disease in corn before making fungicide applications to ensure you hit your desired growth stage target and that your fungicide coverage lasts through optimal timing.

The field she was in yesterday was still pretty clean, and Southern Rust has yet to be confirmed in my territory, so holding off on this field until closer to R2 (brown silk) was the right call to make. Reference the video below as a guide on what to look for when scouting your fields before making a fungicide pass. Don't forget to refer to Beck's list of PFR Proven™ fungicides to help make that pass a successful one. Be sure to also scout for insect pressure and consider adding an insecticide to the tank as well.
