Interested in Maximizing Wheat Yield with Fungicide?

Agronomy Update

Published on Monday, May 10, 2021

Chad Kalaher, Beck’s Hybrids Field Sales Agronomist, discusses what to consider when deciding on making a fungicide application to wheat. High wheat commodity market prices have growers interested in investing more in their wheat crop this year. When investing in wheat, identify what you are targeting your crop for: grain yield, straw yield, and the possibility for double-cropping soybeans (after wheat harvest).

Chad reviews wheat growth staging to properly target a timely fungicide application for diseases like head scab and vomitoxin. Practical Farm Research (PFR®) has a few PFR Proven™ fungicide products on wheat. Check those products out here: in the '2020 PFR Wheat Book.'

A fungicide application with an insecticide can help reduce damage by armyworms.Check out varieties from Beck’s that have head scab protection genes from your local Beck’s representative, and on the wheat product page.
