S. ILLINOIS - SEAN NETTLETON, CCA

Using 2016 Data for 2017 Planning

Published on Wednesday, October 19, 2016

Harvest is in full swing in southern Illinois! As you go from farm to farm, take the opportunity to write down your observations of hybrids and varieties, drainage concerns, or anything else you see that may help you in future decision making. Even better, try using the FARMserver™ scouting app to make your observations while going through the field. This information will sync to your FARMserver account so you can revisit after
the rush of harvest winds down.

As you continue with harvest, be sure to check fields and reorder harvest plans as necessary. In many areas of southern Illinois, diseases such as gray leaf spot and southern rust came in late to a lot of fields. These diseases can negatively affect stalk quality in areas that already suffered pretty severe weather swings from dry to extremely wet throughout the growing season. As always, enjoy the season and be safe out there! -
