Corn Fungicide Applications

Published on Wednesday, August 31, 2016

Corn fungicide applications are always a highly debated topic. Many swear by them while others swear at them when they spend the money and see little or no yield benefit. Here are a couple things I like to consider before making an application:

Hybrid – We rate all of our hybrids for fungicide response. This means that each hybrid has a low, medium, or high likelihood that it will give you enough additional yield to pay for an application.

Scouting – I like to evaluate the two leaves right below the ear leaf to predict what might happen to it, and if I need to protect it and the leaves above it.

Keep this in mind as you consider fungicide applications this year. Have a great finish to your growing season!
