"Tassel by the Fourth of July"

Published on Wednesday, July 13, 2016

Knee high by the Fourth of July is the old saying for corn growth. In some cases it may be true this year. But for corn that was planted early, we probably should say tassel by the Fourth of July. Crop growth stages are all across the board in 2016. We will see fungicide applications taking place in July in some areas while in many others, corn and soybeans will have only been in the ground a little over a month. With another eventful spring season in the books, it’s time to turn our attention to planning for fungicide applications, late nitrogen application, fall cover crops, and Beck’s Annual Field Shows.

After facing this years’ challenges head on, remember to take time to appreciate all of your hard work. I invite you to join us at the Beck’s Southern Illinois Field Show in Effingham, IL on August 4 to see all of the unique Practical Farm Research (PFR)® trials that were put into place this year. We hope to see you there!
